Missis's Story

FAST FACTS:
* 6 Years Old & 52lbs
* Dog Friendly
* Kid Friendly
* Potty Trained
* Crate Trained
* Very easy going gentle dog

She’s the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart the moment you meet her. At 6 years old and 52 pounds, this sweet, gentle girl is the definition of an easy companion. With her calm, well-mannered personality and loving nature, she brings a peaceful, comforting presence to any home.

She gets along beautifully with other dogs and has a calm, respectful approach when meeting them. At adoption events, even when surrounded by barking dogs, she remained relaxed and unbothered—happy to observe for a moment before going about her day. She’s done well meeting other dogs in her foster home too and is even starting to learn how to play, showing off a little chase in the yard. Because of her mellow demeanor, she’d likely do best with dogs who match or slightly exceed her energy level.

This girl settled into her foster home immediately and has been fully potty trained from day one with no accidents. She’s also crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night without a peep, though she’s proven she can be trusted with free roam of the home as well. Even when left alone for longer periods, she remains calm and relaxed, showing no signs of anxiety.

Her energy level is wonderfully balanced—she’s just as happy going for a long run as she is curling up on the couch. She’s an excellent running partner, happily keeping pace for three miles with perfect leash manners, staying right by your side without pulling. She also loves her daily walks and has spent plenty of time exploring busy neighborhoods and parks, taking in all the sights and smells. While she walks nicely on leash, she does have a bit of a prey drive and may lunge at squirrels, birds, or even cats, and can be more reactive when passing smaller dogs than larger ones.

At home, she’s incredibly polite and respectful. She won’t jump on furniture unless invited, though she absolutely loves a cozy couch when given the okay. She’s happiest simply being near her people—whether that means laying by your side or curling up in your lap for some quiet time. Affection is one of her favorite things, and she soaks up gentle pets and hugs with pure contentment.

She’s wonderfully adaptable to her surroundings and handles noise and activity with ease. Living near a train and in busy areas hasn’t phased her one bit, and she remains calm even with lots of people, cars, or neighborhood noise. She’s also incredibly quiet at home—you likely won’t hear her bark, even when other dogs around her are making plenty of noise.

She has spent time with children, including a toddler and an infant, and was gentle, patient, and loving throughout. While she hasn’t lived full-time with kids, her temperament suggests she would do very well in a family setting.

More than anything, she’s a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be by your side through all of life’s simple moments. Whether you’re heading out for an adventure or relaxing at home, she’ll be right there with you—quietly, sweetly, and wholeheartedly devoted.

If interested in adopting me please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org; please make sure you fill in every required field/question or your submission will not go through. Please note that we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care and our bios are our current observations; we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history and as such breed and age estimates are an educated guess.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS, NO EXCEPTIONS:

*ADOPTION FEE: $375

*Be at least 21 years of age

*Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household

*Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)

*Have a valid ID with current address (please provide proof of address if ID address is not up-to-date)

*Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation

*Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment

*QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR POLICIES? Fetching Tails Foundation's Adoption Policy
1). All dogs listed on the website are currently available for adoption. We are volunteer-run and will do our very best to respond to your interest in one of our dogs within 24-48 hours. If you have not received a response by the 48-hour mark, please check your spam. 2). The decision to place one of our rescue dogs into either a foster home or adoptive home is not one that we take lightly. We reserve the right to deny any application and may not disclose the reason for denial. This decision is not made on a first-come, first-served basis, it is determined by who would be the best fit for our dog based on their personality in a foster home. 3). At times we have multiple applications on the same adoptable dog - and we reserve the right to stop accepting applications at any point when there is an overwhelming number of applicants for the same dog. This may be the reason you do not see the particular dog on our website or any partner websites, even after submitting an application. If an application is submitted, you should expect a response from us. Process Application – As a potential adopter, you will fill out and submit an adoption application. Your application will be reviewed by an FTF Volunteer, who will contact you within 24-48 hours of submission. Again, please check your spam if you do not hear from someone by the 48-hour mark. Meet If the application is deemed a good fit, the foster/volunteer will schedule a meet with the applicant and everyone in the household. All members of the application household, including dogs, will meet at a secured location decided by the foster and applicants. If a person or dog is over often, they are able to attend as well. Home Checks: After the application has been approved and the meet and greet has been done we will move forward with a home check. ** Please note, if you are in a rented home, we will be contacting your landlord for their approval prior to adoption. If the approval is not written in your lease, we will need written approval from your landlord. Contract If you are approved for adoption, you will be notified and adoption will be scheduled at one of two locations. You will fill out our adoption contract, which details our policies and procedures regarding the responsibility and care of the Fetching Tails dog. At this time you will receive proof of all vaccinations, the microchip number, test results, a rabies certificate, and any additional medical records, if necessary. Adoption Donation When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program. Senior dog. 8 years and up / $125 Adult or Young Dog. 6 months to 7 years / $375 Puppies. Under 6 months / $450 (Cash or check accepted only on adoption day) Care Provided At minimum, all Fetching Tails dogs receive the following: Fecal tests (and treatment, if needed) Age-appropriate Vaccinations Microchip, which will be transferred to you at the time the adoption is processed with our 24PetWatch chip Heartworm Test (and treatment, if positive) Spay/Neuter Surgery Flea & Tick Preventative (during the proper season) Heartworm Preventative (during the proper season) **Please note the following: 1). We are unable to make any guarantees of the future health, age, temperament, size, or breed of your adopted dog. 2). In the event that the adopter is no longer able or willing to care for the adopted dog, or the dog is no longer a “fit” in the home, the adopter understands that the dog MUST be returned to Fetching Tails Foundation. If the adopted dog is not returned to Fetching Tails, the Foundation has the right to subject a fine and if necessary, will take legal action. 3). Please read over your adoption contract carefully.
