Miss Polly's Story

Miss Polly's story is one of strength, resilience, and learning to trust again.

She first came to us from South Salt Lake after being found with a severely injured foot - likely from being caught in a trap and bravely freeing herself. After the shelter repaired her leg, Polly joined our rescue and headed straight into a foster home to begin healing.

Just a week later, Polly surprised everyone by giving birth to six puppies! With so much change happening at once, Polly came back to our facility to safely raise her babies. Like many new moms in an unfamiliar place, she was simply doing her best to protect her little ones while navigating a brand new environment.

To ensure both Polly and her puppies received the care they needed, her babies were temporarily cared for by a partner rescue for bottle feeding. During that time, Polly had the chance to decompress and build trust with our team - and she quickly showed us her sweet and affectionate side. When her puppies returned, she recognized them immediately and, thanks to her growing confidence with people, allowed us to help care for them.

All six of Polly's puppies have since found loving homes - and now it's Polly's turn

After her spay, Polly truly blossomed. With guidance from our vet, she also underwent an amputation to remove the remainder of her injured leg - and she is now a proud three-legged girl who doesn't let anything slow her down! She loves to run, play, and enjoys the company of other dogs of all sizes.

Polly would do best in a home without cats, as she finds them a little too exciting to chase. She does wonderfully with kids and is friendly with new people - though she can be a bit shy with some men at first. With a gentle introduction, she warms up beautifully.

Miss Polly has been an incredible mama - now she's ready to just be someone's beloved girl.
