Miss Ivy's Story
MISS IVY was found as a stray and brought to the shelter. She had some immediate medical needs so Rhodie’s Rescue pulled her from the shelter on New Year’s Eve. Her medical needs have been addressed and she is now looking for that special person or family who will take care of her and love her for the rest of her life.

Here’s a bit about MISS IVY from her foster Mom;
She is thought to be 12 years old and weighs in around 5 pounds. I have actually observed a strong gust of wind blowing her over, but she hops back up and looks for a warm lap to sit in.

Ivy has the look of a character, but the manners of a lady. She came to our home in January and settled right in. We have a senior dog, a puppy and two young children. The five year old was quickly designated as “the favorite” and was fully adopted by Ivy. She sleeps in a crate at night and goes to bed quickly.

She is crate trained and has never had an accident in her indoor play pen. If not sitting with you or exploring the yard, she is fast asleep in her comfy dog bed. She loves to be held and will sit quietly for hours.

Although she has limited eyesight and hearing, she does seem to navigate well and adjusted easily to new areas. She will do a u-turn if she hears her name. Her walk is more like a strut and she is a happy dog on walks up and down the street.

She takes treats gently. Most days she gets her eye drops without incident, but dislikes the puppy being close by during administration. When she is upset, she will give a warning growl and may nip if she continues to be unhappy. She has very few teeth and mostly startles the recipient more than hurts. immediately after, all tends to be forgiven-especially if she gets to sit with you on the couch. Due to her lack of teeth, she eats small kibble that has been watered down.

Ivy LOVES a warm bath and especially appreciates being able to sit and soak for a few minutes. She will also sit and be brushed without incident-a favorite pastime with my daughter.

Although Ivy appears to love kids (that want to hold her and cuddle), she prefers a low energy environment. To that end, she would prefer a home without a puppy or young children who are not gentle or are loud/busy. She is great with our older dog and has no issues with cats. Ivy is very quiet, in fact we have never heard her bark!

MISS IVY does have a few small mammary tumors that our vet has advised to ‘leave alone’. She requires eye drops daily to keep her eyes moist and to help prevent infection. Her heart and lungs are both good and she did great under anesthesia when her dental work and spay was done.

MISS IVY has had extensive diagnostics, health exam, spay, vaccinations, microchip, dental work, flea and deworming treatment. We are not asking an adoption fee for IVY only a solid, permanent loving home for her to be safe, well cared for and loved for the rest of her life.
