Mishka's Story

Personality: I'm a calm, gentle girl with a goofy side when I get excited!

Education: working on crate training, leash manners, mostly potty trained with only the occasional accident!

Favorite Activities: Spending time with other dogs, and anything active (walks, hikes, exploring new places)

Looking For: An active family (maybe with another dog (or two!)) who enjoys hiking, long walks and outdoor adventures!

Bio: Hi there! My name is Mishka! I'm a sweet, loving girl who was rescued from the ESLR dog hoarding situation in Ensenada, and now I'm ready to find the forever family I've always deserved. I'm healthy, already spayed, and excited for my next chapter!

I'm a calm, gentle girl most of the time, but when something gets me excited, my goofy side comes out! I'll jump around, do happy little flips, and show off just how much fun I can be. I warm up to people pretty quickly and love getting pets and attention once I know you.

As a Husky, I have plenty of energy and absolutely love being active. Right now, I enjoy about an hour and a half of walks every day, and I could happily go even longer! Whether it's hiking, long neighborhood walks, or exploring new places, I'm always ready for an adventure. I can be protective of my home and may be a little cautious around new people - especially men - but with patience and proper introductions, I continue to build confidence.

One of my favorite things in the world is spending time with other dogs! I would really love a home with another playful canine companion to keep me company. I haven't spent much time around cats, and because I do have a prey drive, a cat-free home would probably be the best fit for me. As for kids, they aren't really my favorite playmates, but I'm very tolerant and have never shown any aggressive behavior toward them.

When I'm not out on an adventure, you'll find me exploring the backyard, playing fetch, or proudly "destroying" my favorite squeaky toys. As far as my training goes, I'm still working on a few manners. I'm mostly potty trained, with only the occasional accident, and while the crate isn't my favorite place, I'll happily go in with a little encouragement (especially if turkey is involved!). Walking nicely on a leash is something I'm still learning. I get very excited when I spot another dog or a cat and can pull quite hard - in fact, I've even escaped a harness before! Since I'm not very motivated by treats, training takes a little extra creativity and patience, but I'm a smart girl who wants to succeed. The good news? I don't have any separation anxiety and am perfectly comfortable relaxing on my own when needed.

If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, and wonderfully goofy companion, I just might be your perfect match. I'd thrive with an active family that enjoys hiking, long walks, and outdoor adventures. I'd especially love a home with another dog (or two!) or a family that enjoys regular trips to the dog park. While I'm happy to spend a little time alone during the day, I'm happiest when I have people and furry friends to share life with.

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
