Miracle 's Story
Meet Miracle, a 7 year old, 20lbs Pomeranian/terrier/chihuahua mix and a real life miracle shaped as a dog! Miri was an owner surrender, who was living with a family who had raised her since she was a puppy, and circumstances changed in her families' life, creating a lot of stress and uncertainty in Miri's world, she became protective of the littles in her home and despite her giving as many queues as she could to communicate to the adults about her feelings of being unsafe, they went unheard and Miri started acting out with barks and waring nips (never to the littles, only adults). Her owners were going to put her down, but we felt she was just misunderstood and asked if we could give her a second chance. Since moving in with her foster mom, she is THRIVING. She has gained a lot of confidence, and has not had any instances of the nipping she had exhibited with her previous owners. She is still building her confidence and will take some time to feel safe and comfortable with her new home, so we are definitely looking for a dog savvy family for her. Miri would be a best fit for a home with no children (potentially older children but that will be on a case by case basis). She does ok with slow intros with other dogs, but has not been tested around cats or other animals. Because she is a mature girl, she would do great in almost any home configuration and would make a great apartment dog or would love a house with a fenced yard, but really she will thrive with anyone who works from home or is retired, as she wants to be around her person as much as possible. She has done really well on leash and is doing great work in her pack walks. She has shown uncertainty with men but has warmed up with her resident foster dad. She is fully potty trained, crate trained (she loves her crate!), knows basic commands like sit and laydown, but is working on recall and other commands. It is important to consider her beautiful fur, she is a long hair dog and will need regular grooming and daily brushing to keep her healthy and happy. If you are a small dog savvy and wanting to add this beautiful girl to your life, she is ready and waiting for her furever home!
