Mirabel's Story
Rescued from the unbearable conditions of the Texas dumping grounds, saying yes to Mirabel was the easy part. She’s already come so far — her spirit is brighter, and her eyes are full of hope. Mirabel has completed her heartworm treatment, and she’s ready to find her forever! She is in a foster home where there are a lot of new dogs coming and going. She’s not a big fan of meeting new dogs. There is no way to know just what she endured on the nasty Texas streets, but her original intake photo shows it was not easy on her. Mirabel is a bit fearful and spooks easily. She is working through a lot, and she’s come very far! She’s eager to please, and needs reminders she is safe. She would be happy as the only dog in the home, and probably should not live with young children she would find unpredictable. She is playful, and so smart! She’s crate trained and house trained. She loves long sniff walks. She is fostered in the St. Louis area. This is your moment, Missouri — we’re the Show Me State, and it’s time to show her what love truly is. Let’s show Miss Mirabel what freedom really feels like. She is adoptable at
https://journeyhomegsd.org/

Update-3/9

Mirabel had a rough start, but this girl is a fighter—and she won her battle.

After everything she’s been through, as we previously shared, we are so happy that Mirabel beat heartworms and is now NEGATIVE! Yay Mirabel! This brave girl faced it all with strength and resilience.

From the streets of Texas to where she is now, Mirabel’s journey hasn’t been easy—but she’s never stopped trying. Now she’s ready for the chapter she truly deserves… a forever home of her very own.

Mirabel is incredibly smart and very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. She thrives on a predictable routine and does best when she knows what to expect from her day.

She’s learned that meeting new people can be a good thing, though she still likes to take a little time to warm up. Once she does, her sweet personality shines through.

Because Mirabel startles easily, she would do best in a calmer home without large groups or a lot of chaos. We want her to feel safe and secure so she can truly relax and be herself.

Mirabel will also need a home without small animals—no small dogs, cats, hamsters, or guinea pigs… honestly she’d probably figure out how to open their enclosures anyway.

After surviving the streets and beating heartworms, Mirabel is more than deserving of a loving forever home. A place where she can finally exhale, feel safe, and know she belongs.

From the streets of Texas to her forever home… that’s the journey Mirabel is ready for now.
