Mindy's Story

Meet Mindy!

Mindy was found as a stray who had been on her own for a while. She was in survival mode, so had to be humanely trapped by our Animal Control. She took her time getting comfortable and feeling safe, but she is doing so much better! She’s still a little barky and shy around people she doesn’t know yet (particularly around men), but she loves treats. She spent a long time surviving in the cold on her own. Once she warms up, she is full of tail wags and hugs!

One of our staff brought her home for the afternoon. Here's what she had to say, "Mindy promised to help me clean my backyard up if I sprung her out of the shelter for an hour. Her favorite part was breaking down all the fallen branches, she helped with every single one. When we weren't cleaning, she was sitting in my lap with her head on my shoulder. She is a HUGE cuddler. I'd be surprised if she doesn't have hound or some hunting breed in her, her nose works overtime.
She even briefly met 2 of my dogs, and was a sweet angel with them. Despite wanting to play, she was great with my senior and respected his old man vibe."

Female
1 year
37 lbs
-------------
Origin Story:
She had been hanging out around Erin's Farm and neighboring properties by Robinson Lake for a few weeks, but no one was able to convince her to come near. She was starving and had been eating compost or whatever she could find. She was wearing a harness, so she probably belonged to somebody at some point.

Here's what Erin's Farm had to say, "Our skinny little stray who has been wandering abandoned or lost the last couple weeks is FINALLY inside in a nice warm place tonight!
She was so terribly cold & just trembling and shaking as it’s only 17° outside and tomorrow with an expected high of only 9°!
We are so grateful for wonderful neighbors always willing to help out & for a community that comes together to look out for the good of animals!
We are grateful for Hobart Animal Control and Humane Society for bringing a large trap out this morning and taking her in once we got her!"
