Mimsy's Story
Mimsy — the tiny explorer with the mighty spirit. If you’re looking for a puppy with personality, curiosity, and extra sparkle, Mimsy might be your girl.

Mimsy is a young Chihuahua with mild congenital hydrocephalus, which simply means she has a little extra fluid around her brain. In her case, it’s very mild and you’ll mostly notice it when she’s tired or stressed. Her symptoms are mostly that she can be a little bit “wobbly”. It doesn’t present all the time and is most noticeable when she is tired or stressed. Making her look a little goofy. Mostly, she’s great at being a durpy girl. The rest of the time, she’s busy being a puppy—exploring, playing, and figuring out the world one tiny step at a time.

What makes Mimsy special is her independent streak. She’s not the kind of puppy who needs to be glued to your side every second. She loves to investigate, entertain herself, and then pop over for affection when she decides it’s time for a cuddle. Because of her diminutive size, we are looking for a home with children older than 8 years.

Because of her condition, there are just a couple simple things her future family should keep in mind: Slippery floors can be tricky for little legs and she shouldn’t have access to places she could fall from, like high furniture or stairs without supervision. With those small precautions, Mimsy is free to do what she does best: be an adorable, curious, confident little pup.

The truth is, Mimsy doesn’t know she’s any different. She just knows life is exciting and people are wonderful. Come meet Mimsy — this sweet little spirit just might steal your heart.

Mimsy has been spayed, is current on age-appropriate vaccines and has been microchipped.

If you are interested in adopting Mimsy, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt).
