Mimi's Story

Mimi has a sad story. She landed in a shelter after being found tied to a Dollar General shopping cart, with 11 puppies in the cart. She apparently belonged to a homeless person who was arrested. Ten of the puppies later died at the shelter. After several weeks and delays, the shelter planned to put Mimi on the euthanasia list. Instead, we took Mimi into our rescue.

Mimi is a beagle and Queensland mix. She is 45 pounds and estimated to be two years old. She is white with reddish brown markings. Her white coat has brown speckles.

Despite her sad history, Mimi is a very sweet and loving dog. Her favorite thing is being close to someone and getting attention. She likes getting pets and tummy rubs. If you stop, Mimi will nudge you with her big hound nose to pet her some more. Even if you don't pet Mimi, she can be content just to lay close. She likes to sleep next to someone. When you wake up, don't be surprised if Mimi gives you a beagle kiss and rolls over for a tummy rub. This girl is big on kisses and licks.

Mimi was happy to be free from the shelter and has relaxed and settled into freedom. She has shown lots of tail wags. Mimi walks and hikes well on a leash, with plenty of vigor and interest in following her nose. She rides fine in a car, even enjoying sticking her nose out the window as she travels. Mimi gets along well with other dogs, including sleeping next to them. But she also may be fine as an only dog, as she would be happy as long as she has her person.

In rescue, we had Mimi spayed, microchipped, and given all of her shots. She has shown a good appetite and maybe could gain a couple pounds, but she's in good shape otherwise. After everything, Mimi shows she's happy. She's now ready for her forever home, where she can enjoy the regular life of a hound in a safe and stable place -- and give all of her love.
