Meet Millie the Merry Wanderer

Meet Millie the Merry Wanderer! Millie is an 11 year old, 13 lb shih tzu mix who has a gentle, loving temperament and is looking for a new home.

Millie was picked up as a stray, and this poor girl was in really rough shape. After lots of TLC, she is doing much better, but continues to struggle with some medical issues. She has chronic dry eyes (common to shih tzus) and needs daily eye drops. She also has some thickening of her bladder wall, which has recently caused her to start dribbling urine. We are currently trying out a medication to treat that. If it's effective, the cost of her medications for the dry eyes and the incontinence is about $60 per month. And as if that weren't enough, she also has itchy skin. We are treating it with medicated baths, but it's possible allergies may be involved as well, which could require ongoing treatment or medication.

Despite all of this, Millie's very sweet nature shines through. She is looking for a lap to nap on and a companion to watch over her. She would do well in a home with someone that works from home, or a young retiree who is looking for a companion. She prefers older kids to young ones, and is good with other dogs.

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
