Millie's Story

MILLIE — THE DOG WHO SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABANDONED

Some dogs come into rescue with a story that breaks your heart. Millie is one of those dogs.

She was found abandoned along the Kern River, going from house to house desperately looking for somewhere safe to stay. It was obvious from the beginning that Millie had once belonged to someone. She knew people, she knew how to behave in a home, and she had that unmistakable sweetness of a dog who had been loved.

But somehow, she ended up alone.

And she has been with us for over a year.

For a while, Millie was boarded, and the people who cared for her absolutely fell in love with her. They told us she was the best shop dog ever! She didn't need to be on a leash. She greeted everyone who walked through the door — people, dogs, even cats — with the same happy, friendly attitude. She simply knows how to be a wonderful dog.

Millie is also an amazing hiking companion and would love nothing more than to be your adventure buddy during the day and your best friend relaxing beside you at home.

House trained Crate trained Great with people Great with dogs Great with cats Loves adventures and hiking Up to date on all vaccines Spayed Approximately 5 years old

Honestly, Millie is one of the best dogs we have ever had.

She is what we call a push-button dog. She doesn't need a complicated lifestyle or someone who has to constantly manage her. She just wants to be part of your life. Take her on a hike, let her hang out with you, bring her along on adventures, and then let her curl up beside you at home.

She is simply... easy.

We cannot understand how someone could abandon a dog like Millie. She should have never been left to fend for herself along the river.

Now, after waiting with us for more than a year, Millie deserves her forever person.

If you're looking for a loyal, loving, easygoing companion who can enjoy both the couch and the great outdoors, Millie is definitely your girl.

Interested in Millie?
