Millie's Story

Millie is a one‐year‐old Heeler mix with a bright mind, a big heart, and a deep love for her people. She is the type of dog who likes to stay close, soaking up attention without being demanding or needy. Outgoing and social, she has truly never met a stranger and approaches the world with cheerful curiosity. Still young and eager to learn, Millie is continuing to work on her leash manners and is already crate trained, mostly housebroken, and sits politely for treats.

Energetic and playful, Millie enjoys dogs her size who can match her enthusiasm, though she could also thrive as an only dog with an engaged family. She plays hard but redirects easily, focuses well, and is incredibly smart--traits that make training both fun and rewarding. She is food motivated and just starting to figure out the game of fetch, which she approaches with the same enthusiasm she brings to hikes, car rides, and exploring anything that captures her attention. She does well with kids of all ages, making her a wonderful match for an active household.

At about 40 pounds, Millie offers the perfect balance of adventure and companionship. After a good play session or a day out on the trail, she's content to settle in and relax with her people. Because she tends to bark at movement and pays close attention to her surroundings, a home environment--rather than an apartment--is likely the best fit. Millie is ready for a family who appreciates her smarts, her spirit, and her affectionate nature. She has all the potential to become a loyal, devoted companion to whoever is lucky enough to welcome her home.

Ready to meet Millie?
Apply at www.shelter2rescue.org. for more info on this sweet girl, you can contact her foster mom, Liz, at 214/616-6128.
