Miles's Story
🐾 MEET MILES 🐾
After spending over 100 days in the shelter, Miles is finally getting a glimpse of what home feels and is thriving in the comfort and structure of his foster home. Now he’s ready for a forever family of his own!
Miles is estimated to be about 2 years old and is super sweet, affectionate, and eager to bond with his people. Nicknamed “Mr. Wigglebutt” by his foster family, he greets every person and dog like they’re best friends with full body tail wags and lots of kisses. He gets along great with his foster’s resident female dog and has shown no signs of aggression or reactivity. While he has not been introduced to cats yet, he has seen them through windows and doors and shows positive, playful interest
Miles has shown no interest in chewing up anything that doesn't resemble a toy (your shoes are safe!) and is very food motivated making training both fun and rewarding. Some of his favorite things include walks, sniffing around outside, heavy duty chew toys, food of any kind, and lots of belly rubs!
Miles is quiet in his crate, keeps it clean, and sleeps through the night with no issues. He knows several basic commands including sit, down, come, leave it, bed, and crate. He generally walks well on a leash using a gentle leader harness; however, he can become very excited when he sees other dogs or people and may pull in attempts to say hello. As a strong boy, Miles would benefit from an experienced adopter who can continue helping him learn appropriate responses on walks. He responds well to correction, clicker training, and treats, and has already made great progress in his foster home.
Miles has a lot of energy when he first comes out that may be too much for shy or reactive animals. He can play a bit rough at times, but has done very well with corrections from his foster and other dogs. He would do well in a home with another, confident dog who can help him fine-tune his doggy manners and learn to self-regulate and rest when needed. He would happily play all day if you let him!
If his body and mind are kept busy with walks, playtime, snuffle mats, food puzzles, and chews, Miles will reward you with unconditional love and lots of couch cuddles. In a short amount of time, he has already made extraordinary progress in his foster home. We are confident he would thrive in a home that can offer consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. A home with another dog could be a great fit, but he would also do well as the only pet so he could soak up all the attention for himself.
Miles has shown just how much he can grow when given stability and love. He has waited patiently for his chance, and how he’s ready to give his whole heart to the family who chooses him. If you’re ready to continue his journey and give him the forever he’s been waiting for, Miles is ready to meet you!
