Miles's Story

Say hello to handsome and fun Miles! He's a 2 year old Black Lab mix who is 69 pounds of love, energy, and fun! He was a stray who was taken in by a lovely family but they are moving and can no longer take care of him. Despite the uncertainty he's faced, Miles remains incredibly loving and social. He adores people, does great with children, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. You'll see in his videos how GREAT he is with kids and how he also knows how to chill and relax! Cats, however, are not his cup of tea, so he'd do best in a cat-free household.

Miles is the definition of an active, happy dog. He loves long walks where he can sniff all the interesting smells, meet new people, and explore the world around him. When he's not out on an adventure, you'll find him playing tug-of-war, carrying around sticks, or wrestling with his dog friends.

Miles would thrive with an active family that can provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and a securely fenced backyard where he can stretch his legs. In return, you'll get a loving, affectionate companion who's always ready for the next adventure.

What makes Miles so special isn't just his playful energy or his goofy charm—it's the way he continues to trust, love, and connect with people despite the setbacks he's experienced. He is healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, house-trained and crate-trained which makes him an easy addition to his new family.

If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will greet each day with enthusiasm and each person with a wagging tail, Miles is waiting to meet you. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on this great boy!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
