Mickey's Story

Meet Mickey

Why is Mickey still with us? It’s a question we ask ourselves all the time! Born at SPR to mom, Lumi, in November 2021, Mickey is now a 2-year-old boy who really needs a family of his own. We know his mom was a GSD, but we're unsure if his dad was a Lab or maybe a Dane. Regardless, this boy is athletic and strong, so small kids and small animals are not recommended for him.

Mickey was in foster care for a while but had to come back to our rescue center, and here he has stayed. We don't know if he is a victim of Black Dog Syndrome, but his shiny black and white coat makes him look so regal. We call it his “tuxedo” look!

To help Mickey begin his REAL life, he is now going to board and train at 9 Line K9. https://www.9linek9phx.com/ We are making it our mission to get Mickey home for the holidays! Mickey is engaging, fun-loving, playful, and always up for adventure. What Mickey needs is a home that is committed to working with him as he really needs focus on the basics.

Mickey will need careful introduction to other dogs, and due to his size and energy, seniors, timid, and small dogs would not be a fair match for him. He has been with other dogs in foster care, but his size and enthusiasm mean he needs the right match in a playmate. An only-dog home will suit him fine as he will take all the attention you can give him. Oh, did we mention that Mickey LOVES people?

He LOVES our baby pool, so a home with a pool where he can learn to swim and burn off energy would be amazing. He will be a great hiking dog once his leash skills are perfected. He loves walking with the volunteers, but he does pull and is a strong boy.

If you're interested in meeting Mickey and learning more about him, please submit an adoption application. Note: We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization, so it may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks.

Find the application on our website at www.savingpawsrescueaz.org.
