Mickey's Story

🐾 Hi, I'm MICKY, an adorable, snuggly little guy with the softest coat and the cutest puppy belly you’ve ever seen. I’d thrive with a confident canine sibling who doesn’t mind a built-in snuggle buddy. I'm living with an awesome Foster family and their pup and I'm doing great!🐾

I can be a little quiet at first when meeting new people, but once I feel comfortable my sweet personality really shines, and it doesn't take me long! I’m incredibly loving, very gentle, and a professional cuddle bug once I know you’re my person.

I absolutely love other dogs and do great with pups of all sizes. I’ve also met cats and so far I’m pretty indifferent to them. Basically, I’m just a friendly little guy trying to figure out this big world.

Since I’m still a baby, I’m working on all the important puppy skills — leash walking, crate training, potty training, and basic manners. I’m learning more every day and will thrive with patience, consistency, and continued training.

Because of my age, I’ll also need a home with a flexible schedule — being crated for 8+ hours a day just isn’t realistic for a growing puppy.
✨ Mickey at a glance:
🐾 3 months old • 17 lbs
🐾 Sweet, snuggly, and affectionate
🐾 Gentle when meeting new people, warms up quickly
🐾 Loves other dogs of all sizes
🐾 Cat-indifferent so far
🐾 Working on puppy basics (potty, crate, leash)
🐾 Would do well with kids with respectful dog manners

Like all puppies, Mickey will need patience, structure, and ongoing training to help him grow into the best dog he can be.

If you’re looking for a sweet puppy with a soft coat, a big heart, and world-class snuggling skills, Mickey might be your guy. Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
