Mia's Story
IMPORTANT - If you are interested in adopting this pup, you MUST complete an adoption application at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-app/ to begin the process.

Meet Mia!

Mia’s story began on the streets of Puerto Rico, where she was found by a compassionate veterinarian who knew she deserved so much more. Today, this sweet 2-year-old, 17-pound girl is safe in New Hampshire and ready to find the forever family she’s been waiting for.

Mia is a loving, people-focused pup who truly adores her humans and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. While she can do well with calm, respectful dogs, Mia would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the attention and feel secure. She shines in a quieter environment and would do best in an adult-only home, or with children over 12, as small children make her uncomfortable and fearful.

Mia would also do best in a home without cats, where she can fully relax and feel at ease. In return, she offers deep loyalty, affection, and a heart full of love for her person.

She enjoys going for walks and makes a wonderful walking buddy, happy to explore the world at a comfortable pace. She can go for MILES, so she'd make a wonderful hiking buddy!

Mia is both housetrained and crate trained, which helps make her an easy transition into the right home. Like many dogs who have spent a lot of time in a shelter environment, Mia can get a bit mouthy when she’s feeling overly stimulated - we noticed this when she's out playing fetch, as she's been in the crate for a long period of time and is full of pent up energy. With calm handling and consistency, she continues to learn better ways to express herself.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be your one and only, Mia may be the perfect match. She’s ready to meet you and begin her next chapter by your side.

Adoption Info:
• Apply at https://www.heartsandtails.org/adoption-application
• Due to high inquiry volume, only applicants who appear to be a good match will be contacted.
