Mia's Story

Case#60540656 Born 2-26-21

Yes, YOU, want to come meet this special girl named Mia!

If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a gentle soul, you need to meet Mia. If you are shy about getting a Pitt-mix, Mia will put those concerns to rest!

When you first meet her, she may seem a little shy—and that's perfectly normal. Like many foster dogs, she just needs a little time to feel safe. But once she trusts you, you'll discover an incredibly devoted, affectionate, and well-mannered girl who wants nothing more than to be by your side.

As her foster dad, after spending the past week with Mia, I can honestly say she has been one of the easiest foster dogs Ive ever had.

She knows her name, respects boundaries, listens exceptionally well, and has been wonderfully behaved. She hasn't chewed or destroyed a single thing, even when left home alone for hours. Instead, shell usually claim a comfy spot on the bed and wiggle and smile when you come home.

Mia is happiest living life at a slower pace. She loves lounging with her people, soaking up sunshine, and leaning in for chin scratches, head rubs, and scratches at the base of her tail while gazing up at you with her beautiful golden eyes.

She would likely thrive in a quieter home with a single person, couple, or senior where she can form the close bond she naturally craves. In a family home, shell simply need time to get to know everyone so she understands they're all part of her family. Once she does, her loyalty is unmatched. Shell always make sure you know when someone is nearby—she takes protecting the people she loves very seriously.

Mia is also an excellent travel companion. She rides beautifully in the car, happily lying in the back seat while enjoying the breeze from an open window.

When it comes to treats, Mia definitely has opinions!
-Dehydrated sweet potato treats
-Fried won tons
-and most, a hollow bone with some peanut butter in it.

Most importantly, Mia has shown absolutely no signs of food, toy, or treat aggression. Ive taken food, toys, and treats away while she was enjoying them, and she has remained calm every single time. She simply has a wonderfully gentle nature.

Mia prefers to be your one and only canine companion. After introductions to a couple of other dogs, she made it very clear shed rather have all of your love to herself. Because of that, she would do best as the only dog in the home.

She is incredibly affectionate once she knows you. She enjoys being close, doesn't mind you showering her with kisses, and while she isn't much of a face-licker herself, she has countless other ways of showing just how much she loves her people.

Mia is also wonderful on a leash. Shell naturally settle into walking right beside you. During our walks, shes proven to be trustworthy and attentive. Cats and squirrels might catch her eye, but she redirects well and continues on.

She may have a mild grass allergy, as freshly cut grass caused some paw licking. A small dose of Benadryl has helped tremendously.

When she first arrived at my home, I honestly don't think shed ever been allowed on furniture. I actually had to lift her onto the bed during those first few days. Now? Shes figured out that comfy furniture is pretty wonderful and happily hops up all by herself.

After fostering many dogs over the past two years, I can genuinely say Mia has been one of the sweetest, calmest, and easiest dogs Ive ever welcomed into my home.

Shes around five years old, but she has the peaceful temperament of an older dog. Shes perfectly content soaking up the sunshine outside or curling up beside you on the couch while you relax.

And when you come home after being away? You'll be greeted with Mia's signature snarl-smile — the cutest welcome you'll ever receive. (See pic in the comments.)

Please come meet this incredibly special girl. I have a feeling shell work her way into your heart just as quickly as she did mine.

Interested in meeting Mia before July 24? Call the shelter and let them know you would like a meet-and-greet, or with very little notice, I can bring her to the shelter for you to meet. Be sure to check the comments for even more photos and videos of this amazing girl.

This dog has been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and is current with shots according to its age. Adoption fee is $90.00 cash or check only.
