Merlin's Story

This good boy needs a good home! Please share.

Merlin's favorite thing in the world is his giant Boomer Ball. Give this guy a secure fenced yard and he'll happily run, chase, and play with it all on his own. He truly entertains himself! Walks alone don’t give Merlin the exercise he needs - he needs to be able to run, chase and zoom in a securely fenced yard. His foster family works from home and lets him spend lots of time outside playing while they keep an eye on him. He'll come in for short breaks, then head right back out to his ball. Other times he's perfectly content laying on his cot or relaxing in the grass.

Merlin currently lives with two senior dogs and mostly just does his own thing around them. He'd likely do well around friendly medium or large dogs, especially if they occasionally want to zoom around and play with him. Small critters are overly interesting to Merlin, so a home without cats or tiny dogs would likely be best for him.

Merlin is highly food-motivated and quick to learn. He's already shown good listening skills and recall. This smart boy would thrive with a family who wants to keep working with him on training and fun tricks.

Foster mom says Merlin is easygoing and unbothered. He has no separation anxiety and sleeps right through storms and thunder. Merlin has met kids as young as five and done fine with them. Because he's a big, energetic wiggle-butt with a powerful happy tail, he'd probably do best with older kids or teens who want a backyard playmate and/or couch buddy.

One non-negotiable:
Merlin’s future family must keep his beloved ball in his life. That simple enrichment has made all the difference for him. His fosters truly believe the reason he struggled with kennel stress at the shelter was because he didn't have an outlet like this.

The best part about Merlin?
Once you understand what makes him happy (spoiler: yard + ball + love), he's actually a very easy, affectionate dog. He just wants to play hard, relax in the grass and be part of a family. And the biggest bonus? His foster family has already figured him out and is happy to support his future adopters along the way.

Merlin is fully vetted -- neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle. You can apply to adopt at https://sohfga.com/dog-adoption-application/.
