Mercy's Story

Mercy - From Survivor to Silly, Sweet Companion

Mercy is a 4-year-old, 50-lb brindle beauty who has already survived more than most dogs ever should - yet she is pure love and resilience.

A few months ago, Mercy was found at the bottom of an empty in-ground pool with her four puppies. She was skin and bones, but she had kept those babies safe and alive. You could see the scratch marks where she tried again and again to climb out. Once rescued, she came to her foster home to heal and raise her babies in safety.

Her puppies have since "flown the coop" into wonderful families - and in their absence, something amazing has happened: Mercy has finally bloomed.

Now that she's no longer in survival mode or busy being a mama, Mercy has become downright goofy.
She plays with toys for the first time in her life.
She wrestles joyfully with her foster's 20-lb dog.
She does the funniest, happiest freedom runs.
She even decided all on her own that she likes sleeping in a crate at night (which honestly helps, because this girl is a total bed hog!).

Through all of this, Mercy has kept her gentle, soulful nature. She loves affection, she's polite in the house, and she's wonderfully potty trained. She's friendly with people, and could live with another dog - just needs a meet-and-greet to make sure the fit is right.

Mercy is the kind of dog who looks up at you with grateful eyes that seem to say, "thank you." But now it's her turn to be cherished.

What Mercy Offers Her Forever Family
Fully healthy and filled out
Potty trained
Sweet, affectionate, and people-oriented
Medium energy - happy with walks, couch hangs, and naps
Fun, emerging personality full of playfulness and joy

Seeing her transformation has been one of those rescue moments that reminds you exactly why we do this - watching a dog who gave everything finally learn how to just be a dog.

Mercy is ready to leave her past behind and step into a life where she is loved, safe, and treasured. Could she be your heart dog?

All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. If you have other dogs in your home, we require that they meet our dog prior to adoption.
Adoption fee: $225
Once you apply, the foster will contact you to schedule a meet and greet.
Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog
