Meet MERCI! Sweet Merci is about 3 years old, 39 pounds, female, white and brown terrier mix. This sweetie is such a happy gal; sauntering over with butt wiggles to greet everyone she meets with face nuzzles -- even to those at the vet office! What makes her extremely happy personality even more redeeming is that it is clear Merci has not always been properly cared for.<br/><br/>If Merci had a theme song, it would be "I'm walking on Sunshine" because she's not letting a rough start slow her down. She wags her tail constantly, whether she's following you around the house, out for a walk, or just eating her dinner. She wags at you, at strangers, dogs, and cars driving by, at cows in fields, because everything and everyone is exciting to her! She likes a nice walk and exploring her area, but she's also very happy to snuggle up behind you while you work remotely, assuming you provide mandatory snuggle breaks when she feels you've been working too hard, or fall asleep on your desk when she gets bored with work!. She's figuring out the rules in her foster house, seemingly housebroken and crates easily, often going into the crate with the door open on her own. It took a few days to figure out the soft comfy dog beds were for her and she did not have to sleep on the hard floor! She's working on her manners around food and jumping up for attention-she tries so hard but also loves so much! Merci has a go-with-the-flow attitude, and would make a great family member for a new dog owner or experienced dog owner alike.<br/><br/>Poor Merci has not always been properly taken care of; she arrived at the shelter with a cherry eye, some patchy fur, and heartworm. Because she was so so sweet, the shelter made an urgent plea to save her....PetConnect Rescue was able to come to her rescue, bring her to the DC area to a great foster, and will give her the necessary medical care she needs. Her eye already has been surgically fixed, the fur/skin will resolve with good food and care, and she will be treated for heartworm. So now Merci has left her horrible past behind and is ready to find her new, and this time, forever home.<br/><br/>She has so much love and happiness to give to her new family for many years! Merci is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, preventatives. She is eager to find her person(s) to love!<br/><br/>***Please note that our first step is to fill out an application (it does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.***<br/><br/>Merci is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines.<br/><br/>The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter.<br/><br/>PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care.
