Memphis's Story
Memphis is your typical Blue Heeler. He can be vocal and will try to herd you. When he is done with social interactions, he'll let you know. He would do best in a home with older children who respect boundaries and will give him space when he needs it. When Memphis arrived at the shelter, he was pretty shy. After some time and lots of love from our staff, his personality is starting to shine. This guy gets bouncy when he's excited, especially when you have yummy treats. He knows "sit" and can be grabby when taking treats so tossing them toward him is best. He would benefit from continued reward-based training with his new family to learn new skills and bond with his humans. He may be a little more hesitant in new situations but is making improvements. We can't wait to see how much he improves once adopted! Going slowly with this boy is key. He does get vocal when he is playing with his toys and has shown slight resource guarding of them. He is easily distracted with treats so turning his attention to something else is the best way to remove the toys from the situation. If you have other animals in your home, we recommend bringing them in to do a meet and greet before taking Memphis home. Breed experience is prefered. If you are interested in meeting Memphis, please submit an adoption form on our website: fairfieldcountydogs.com and we will contact you to arrange a time to visit.
