A committed home is required for him to make the trip, and we’re hopeful the right person is out there.

Meet Melvin

Melvin is an 8-month-old shepherd mix who is ready for a fresh start. He was found as a stray along with 4 other dogs, 2 of which are likely siblings and the other 2 possibly parents. The probable parents are a male white shepherd/pyrenees mix and female german shepherd mix, best guess. Now he’s living at a foster home outside while he waits for the chance to start a new life.

Melvin is a friendly, happy pup who enjoys people and gets along well with other dogs. Even after a rough start to life, he has remained sweet and hopeful. He’s ready to find a family who will give him the stability and love he deserves.

Melvin is still learning about home life. He is not potty trained or crate trained that we know of, and he is currently working on leash manners. With a little time, patience, and guidance, he has the potential to grow into a wonderful companion.

Age: 8 months
Gender: Male (not neutered yet)
Weight: ~30 lbs
Breed: Shepherd mix
Spayed/Neutered: No
Potty Trained: Not yet
Crate Trained: Not yet
Leash Manners: Needs work
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Not tested
Good with Kids: Likely yes

Melvin is ready to keep moving forward and would love a foster or adoptive home to help make that happen. If you’re able to foster or adopt, please apply today.
www.muttlife.org

Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up-to-date dewormer, vaccinations, heartworm prevention (age appropriate), and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption.
__________

Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply!

https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies
_________

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.

6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $150 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old.

**Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
