Melly's Story

Little miss Melly showed up as a stray, but it was her lucky day because the person who found her held on to her, found her owners, and agreed to foster her when the owners said they could no longer care for a puppy after developing some health issues. She was born mid-late summer, making her about 6-7 months old. We think she is some sort of hound mix. She weighed in at 26 pounds when she was spayed at the end of February, and we believe she will remain on the small side. In addition to being spayed, Melly is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is being fostered in Bay City, MI and her adoption fee is $150. You can apply for her at www.mittenmuttsdogrescue.com/adopt. Here is what her foster dad has to say about her:

Melly is a super sweet, friendly, curious puppy who gets along well with cats and absolutely loves other dogs. She enjoys learning from older dogs like her foster brother, Dyson, but would also be happy as the only dog in a home as long as she gets plenty of attention. She loves to explore and sniff, so while a fenced yard isn't required, she would really enjoy one. Melly rides well in the car, whether on a lap or by herself, and she already knows basic commands like sit, stay, and checking in with her person for direction. She's also learned a clever trick from her foster brother...opening doors that aren't fully closed!

Like most puppies, she still has lots of energy. She may be a little too enthusiastic for infants, but she does well with kids ages 5 and up. She's currently working on crate training (up to four hours so far) and potty training. She understands that outside is for going potty, but is still learning to hold it consistently. She can pull on the leash at times, but with a little practice, she should master it quickly.

Melly is a sweet, slightly mischievous girl who loves looking out windows and being close to her people, so be prepared to share your personal space with this affectionate pup!
