Mellie

Mellie is a sweet 3-year-old terrier mix who was found on Skid Row after likely being the victim of a hit-and-run. She was covered in wounds and had tragically lost the use of her back legs. Despite everything she had endured, Mellie remained hopeful, gentle, and incredibly loving to everyone she met.<br/>That’s when Unconditional stepped in to take over her care. Mellie was immediately brought to our veterinary partner, Rise Pet Health, where she received the urgent medical attention she needed. After thorough testing, veterinarians discovered multiple broken bones along her spine, each of which was carefully repaired through surgery.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, Mellie’s spine sustained significant trauma, making it unlikely that she will regain the use of her back legs. But her future is still full of possibility. With her pain under control and continued rehabilitation and care, Mellie will be able to live a happy, fulfilling life—and eventually roll around comfortably in a set of wheels of her own.<br/><br/>Mellie has come a long way, and she continues to show us just how strong and resilient she is.
