MEERA's Story
Meera is a fun, intelligent, and affectionate dog who loves to run, learn, and enjoy every moment life has to offer. She has a wonderful balance of energy and focus. Once she’s had her playtime, she settles beautifully and walks calmly on leash. During enrichment time, Meera races joyfully around the grassy runs, chases tennis balls with gusto, and proudly shows off her smarts. She already knows sit, shake, down, and up, and she’s highly treat-motivated, making her a fantastic candidate for continued training. She loves toys of all kinds — especially squeaky ones — and she can catch a ball midair like a pro! While she can be a little jumpy when leaving her kennel and has occasionally displayed leash biting during leashing and unleashing, Meera responds quickly to direction and settles once outside. Her handlers describe her as social, cooperative, and easy to walk. After playtime, she leans in for affection and happily rolls over for belly rubs. Meera also rides calmly in the car, handles transitions well, and goes back into her kennel without issue. She has no identified medical concerns but has been in the shelter for more than 85 days, placing her at risk simply due to prolonged length of stay. Meera is a bright, loving, playful girl who’s ready for a home that will keep her active, engaged, and adored. If you’re looking for a smart, spirited companion with tons of potential, Meera might be your perfect match.

Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
