McLovins's Story

McLovins : Small Dog, Big Heart, Zero Interest in Personal Space

At around 3–4 years old, McLovins is the kind of dog who bonds fast and loves hard. Found as a stray, he’s made it very clear that wandering is not his dream job—having a person of his very own is. He attached quickly to his foster mama and is thriving in her care, where he’s earned the official title of “100% Good Boy.” (No notes. Five stars.)

McLovins is affectionate, eager to please, and impressively easy to train. He’s been vaccinated and just needs one more parvo/distemper booster to be fully up to date. He’s doing great with house training—no accidents so far—but will benefit from an adopter who’s happy to keep reinforcing those good habits.

This sweet guy is happiest when he’s close. Very close. Lap, couch, bed—dealer’s choice. Because of that, he does have moderate separation anxiety and will do best with an experienced dog owner who’s willing to help him feel safe and secure. Fun (and important) fact: McLovins has a magician-level talent for escaping a harness if he thinks he’s been separated from his person. Not because he wants to run—because he wants to come back.

On the plus side, he’s excellent on a leash with no pulling or lunging, incredibly friendly, and deeply devoted. Potential adopters should note: McLovins may be a tripping hazard for anyone unsteady on their feet, as personal space is not his love language.

If you’re looking for a loyal shadow, a willing snuggle buddy, and a dog who will love you with his whole scruffy little heart, McLovins is ready to be your guy.

If you would like to meet McLovins, please complete our online adoption application: https://arfhumane.org/arf-adoption-application/
