His former family loved him dearly but were working very long hours and wanted him to be with a family who could give him more time, attention and exercise. He was taken such great care of by his former family and it shows by how quickly he can adapt to new situations.

AGE: 3 years old (born May 2022)

WEIGHT: 80 lbs.

FENCE REQUIREMENT: Mazi would love a yard with an enclosed fence to run around in! No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed.

COAT TYPE: soft, curly, low-shedding coat. You should be prepared to brush him often (he loves being brushed) and have him groomed regularly (every 6-8 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium energy level- he does great when he can properly expel some energy and then can cozy right up next to you. He likes a 2-3 mile daily walk and some time running around the foster’s fenced yard.

DOGS: Mazi does well with other dogs. There are 4 dogs in his foster home and he does well with them. He is energetic, and will run towards them, seeming like going to body check, but he doesn't, and just veers off, runs around and /or returns to my side. His previous owner said he was a bit shy around large dogs.

CATS: Mazi does ok with short spurts with the foster family kitten, but did not live with a cat in his former family's home.

KIDS: Mazi has experience being around small children, but is not around them often. He would do well in a home with dog-savvy kids who are older based on his size as he could accidentally knock small people down.

CAR: He does well in the car and likes where you can stick his head out of the window.

CRATE: Calm, doesn't mind it a bit! He is crated while his foster family is at work. He would love to be with an owner who is home more often as he loves his people.

HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! Mazi is fully house trained!

LEASH: He LOVES WALKS and going on hikes. He pulls a little when excited, but responsive to correction.

AT THE VET: EXCELLENT! He was a smash hit at the vet! Vet and vet techs loved him, as well as visitors! He is a people pleaser!

AT THE GROOMER: He reportedly does well at groomer although he isn’t a fan of having his paws touched.

Marvelous Mazi-CT is a 3 year old male Goldendoodle who weighs 80 lbs. He came into IDOG as an owner rehome. His former family loved him dearly but were going through some life changes and wanted him to be with a family who could give him more attention and exercise. He was taken such great care of by his former family and it shows by how quickly he can adapt to new situations.

Mazi-CT ( pronounced "MAHZI") is a sweet guy who would thrive in a home where he can hang with this people all day! A dog-savvy family would be wonderful as he is big and can be powerful! Nothing would make him happier than a long walk everyday surrounded by good smells and fun. He would be ok as an only dog but could benefit from a mentor dog. We think there is a quiet goofy side in him!

His foster has this to say about him:

Mazi is very sweet, and responsive to training. He was a big hit at vet clinic, is quiet in crate, listens well to his name/commands. He is pretty flexible, given the HUGE change in his circumstances (where he went from being an only dog to a foster home with 4 dogs and a kitten) and he bonded quickly to me.

Mazi does great in his crate, as he is quiet and calm when he is in there. He would LOVE to curl up at your feet as you work from home though! He has adjusted incredibly well in his foster family's home being surrounded by 4 dogs and a cat that thinks it is a dog. He is a good boy and would be a welcome addition to any family! He is very much ready to spend his days surrounded by his favorite humans and to be your best friend. We very much hope to find him a home where he is a part of the everyday action!

Mazi is very smart and knows: sit, stay, give paw, leave it, here, and wait commands. He can initially be shy around large dogs and enjoys playing with smaller dogs. His foster family has

He can sometimes be anxious when meeting new people and sometimes be very friendly; it depends on the person but he usually wants to meet new people!

Adjectives that describe Mazi:
*Affectionate
*Playful; isn’t that interested in toys and would rather hang out with his family
*Can be initially shy/anxious the first time he is in a new environment and when meeting new people or new dogs
*Smart
*Loving
*Calm most of time
*Gentle with treats. Not really super food motivated.
*Snuggly

Activities that he enjoys:
*Walks
*Hiking
*Hanging out with his humans
*Cuddling

The type of home we feel would be best for Mazi’s success:
-experienced dog owner as he is a big strong sweet boy who sometimes doesn’t know his size and may jump on people/could accidentally knock a small person down
-owner who is willing to take him on long daily walks – he LOVES them!
-he would be OK as an only dog if his owner ensures he is exercised daily or would be fine with another dog
-home with a fenced yard

Mazi-CT is neutered, microchipped, and current on core vaccines. His fecal and heartworm tests were negative and he is on heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

ADOPTION FEE: $550 adoption fee

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR Mazi-Conneticut, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
