Maya's Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Maya is a tiny, darling Chihuahua mix who weighs just 7 pounds and is approximately 5 years old. She came to a local shelter as a stray, and we were happy to help her get out of the pound and into a safe, loving foster home. Now that she’s settled in, her sweet personality has truly begun to shine.

Maya is an affectionate little lap dog who loves to cuddle and snuggle with her person. She actively seeks out attention and has perfected her adorable “pet me, please” poses. She enjoys treats — especially a little cheese when she’s being an extra good girl — and she’s happiest curled up beside her human for quiet companionship.

She gets along well with other dogs and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself if another dog gets too pushy. Maya is not fully leash trained yet; she isn’t terrible on a leash, but she would much prefer not to be on one. A fully fenced yard would be ideal for her. With housetraining, she’s a typical Chihuahua: she does better in good weather and consistently uses pee pads (her foster uses cloth ones) inside the home. In bad weather, she will absolutely choose the pads over going outside. She enjoys sunbathing outdoors but is just as content relaxing on her cozy little bed inside.

Maya is a surprisingly good watchdog with a big bark for such a tiny girl. She doesn’t mind the cats in her foster home, though she may bark at them occasionally. She enjoys people and is very much a lap dog. Older children would be fine for her — she has no aggression at all — she simply prefers not to be grabbed at or handled roughly by toddlers.

Her ideal home would be someone who enjoys a calm, cozy lifestyle and appreciates a loyal little couch companion. Maya is a gentle, loving dog who will make a wonderful friend for someone looking for a small, affectionate companion.

Maya is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm negative. She has had full bloodwork and a dental cleaning with a few extractions while under anesthesia. Her adoption fee is $495.

We require that a martingale collar be used at the time of adoption. If you do not have one, you can purchase a martingale collar from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10 to ensure her safety and security.
