Maya's Story
Meet Maya — Playful, Resilient, and Ready for the Right Home

Maya is a three-year-old pittie mix who has been through more than most dogs her age, but you'd never know it from her joyful, puppy-like spirit. After being found severely malnourished on the streets and experiencing multiple shelter returns, Maya ended up on the euthanasia list simply because she struggled in a chaotic, unfamiliar environment. Today, thanks to her dedicated foster, she's finally getting the chance to decompress, learn, grow — and shine.

Personality & Energy
Maya is full of life. She loves playtime, zoomies, and de-stuffing every toy she can get her paws on (she is a certified fluff-removal expert). She enjoys tug-of-war with her foster sister and loves a good chase game at the dog park. Once she's burned off some energy, Maya transforms into a world-class snuggler. She curls up on the couch or bed, surrounded by as many pillows as possible — pillows are her comfort zone.

Training & Progress
Maya is working hard on:
• Impulse control, especially around excitement
• Mouthiness, which she uses when feeling overstimulated or when seeking attention
• Leash manners and reducing reactivity, which have already improved with a chew-proof leash and consistent routine
• Confidence-building, as she can still be anxious or skittish in new situations

She thrives with structure, patience, and positive reinforcement. Maya does best when she knows what to expect — routines help her feel safe and grounded.

Home Life
• House-trained: Yes
• Crate-trained: Yes (she feels safest eating meals in her crate)
• Dog-friendly: Selective; she plays well with her foster's dog but may need slow introductions
• Cat-friendly: Unknown
• Kid-friendly: Yes, all ages
• Handling: Very affectionate and cuddly once she trusts you
• Play style: Can be rough when playing with humans, so she benefits from redirection to toys

What Maya Needs Most
Maya will thrive in a calm, steady home with a predictable routine and an adopter who understands that progress takes time. She is sweet, intelligent, eager to bond, and genuinely wants to be a good dog — she just needs someone who will meet her where she is and help her continue growing into the amazing companion she's meant to be.

If you're looking for a loving, energetic dog with a huge heart and even bigger potential, Maya is ready to begin her next chapter. Her perfect family is out there — maybe it's you.
