Maxwell's Story
Meet Maxwell! This boy came to our rescue after being labeled a hospice case at the shelter. This was because he has a rare disease caused by ticks that is called Hepatozoonosis. It can cause breakdown of the body over time. The good news is that dogs can go into "remission" and live long, normal lives. After following recommended protocol, Maxwell appears to be in remission and ready for his forever home!

Fostered in a home with another male dog and two kids, Maxwell brings so much love to his foster family. He is friendly, goofy, loving, and kind. He loves to go for walks with his foster mom, and loves to hop on the couch for a snooze. He is a young adult and full grown around 55 pounds, so he is a great age and size. You don't have to worry about crate, potty, or leash training with this boy. He is so smart and well behaved! Despite everything he has been through, he always wears a smile, (literally, he loves to smile)! Maxwell has also undergone heartworm treatment and has recovered wonderfully.

Maxwell's ideal home is a loving one that will bring him love and comfort for the remainder of his life. The doctors believe he will live many years, but adopters must understand he may have flare ups that require some supplemental medications in the future if needed. We know that there is a family out there willing to bring a lot of love to this boy, and he will give it back in return. We are so glad he got his freedom and a chance at a happy, long life thanks to a foster family! He could be your family's new best friend!

If interested in adopting Maxwell, please apply on our website:

BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org/adopt

(Maxwell is in Charleston, SC).
