Maxine's Story

Maxine is a year-old heeler mix who was rescued with what was probably her first litter of pups. The pups have all found homes and now it is Maxine's turn.

She's laid-back, but gets a bad case of the zoomies now and then, especially in her neighborhood park!

She's about 35 pounds, spayed and vaccinated, and good with kids and other dogs (although her little foster brother gets irritated with her from time to time when she plays too rough).

She's good on the leash and falls asleep on long car rides.

She's working on recall and being kenneled.

She has an inquisitive streak and likes to know what is going on at all times.

She still has some puppyish behaviors that need some work, like chewing on shoes and gently nibbling on her human and canine friends (if you have a heeler you know all about this), but she should soon outgrow these behaviors with gentle guidance.

Her short, smooth coat needs little attention.

Maxine would be an easy fit for most active families, as long as she is not left alone for long periods.

Contact Danielle, 970-393-4593 for more information or you can apply for adoption at https://www.blackhathumanesociety.org/apply-now/.
