Maxina's Story

Meet Maxina! Location: Portage, WI

Adoption fee- $350

Maxina is a sweet, fun-loving girl around 4 years old who is ready to find her forever home after raising a litter of puppies. Now it's her turn to be spoiled!

This happy pup loves to run, play, and burn off energy—especially with other dogs. A fenced-in yard would be best for her, and she would thrive in a home with canine friends to romp around with. Maxina will herd other dogs outside. Maxina could also be perfectly happy as an only dog, as she truly loves her humans and enjoys soaking up attention.

Toys are one of her favorite things and of course bones. She enjoys playing with toys around other dogs but does best with supervision to ensure everyone plays nicely. When it comes to mealtime, Maxine might feel unsure at first so she may prefer the opposite end of the room or she might wait in another room in the beginning. Once she is comfortable, which doesn't take long, she eats in the same room with other dogs. Of course dogs eating together should be monitored.

Maxina needs leash work as she is anxious to smell everything and get her news. She pulls pretty good when she first gets going and depending or where she is going. I might avoid dog parks since she might herd other dogs that might not like it. She's curious about cats and would likely chase them, so a cat-free home is probably the best fit.

Maxina has crate syndrome, but if there is another dog, she does fine roaming free in the house with another dog. Of course, they have to go through the getting used to each other phase before rushing to leaving them alone together. Maxina should only be crated very minimally. If you have a vet or grooming appointment for another dog, she will do okay. It's best to have a proper size that she can stand and turn around. Anything larger will give her too much room to power through (don't forget to remove the collar). Maxina should also have a rubber mat (horse stall mat) or a very strong metal one in a crate. It is unknown how she would do alone in the house loose without another dog. If you have a camera this could be tested in small increments. Another option would be doggie daycare with knowledgeable/reputable people.

Maxina is affectionate, playful, and full of life. If you're looking for a loyal companion who loves fun, friends, and toys, Maxina might be your perfect match! Maxina is a great girl! She might try to herd kids so experience with herding is necessary. Maxina can sometimes be mouthy when playing which might scare little kids. Maxine is really a loving dog. She does bond especially well with men, but she is friendly towards everyone she knows or meets. Maxina is fairly mellow around the house and quiet. She is a lot of fun and a very happy girl!
