Maximus's Story
NOTE: MAX IS WITH HIS PEOPLE IN FOLSOM. GSRSV HAS NOT MET MAX. WE ARE LISTING HIM ON THIS WEBSITE ALONG WITH OUR OWN DOGS TO GIVE HIM MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE SEE END OF THIS PROFILE FOR CONTACT INFO.

"Max" is an approx 85-lb, 7-yo (born 10-10-16) neutered male GSD who is loyal, protective and affectionate. Max is healthy overall, but does suffer from ear infections that require routine cleaning. Max just received his rabies & distemper/parvo boosters on July 14.

Max always alert-barks appropriately when new people enter the house, but he is OK with them when properly introduced. He is protective when out on walks. Max is fine with the children he lives with, ages 4½ & 1½ yrs old.

Max is OK with other dogs, but is on the timid side. He gets overwhelmed when there are many dogs around, such as at a dog park. He does OK w/ small dogs.

It’s unknown how Max does with cats.

Max is housetrained and fine when left in the house alone. He sleeps in a large wire enclosure at night.

Max received formal obedience training between 1½ to 2 yrs old. He walks great on a leash without distractions, but is reactive towards other dogs he sees. His people use a prong collar to effectively redirect Max’s attention away from other dogs. His people do not usually bring Max to areas where he is off leash, but his recall is great in the back yard.

Max enjoys car rides and though he whines at first is otherwise a polite passenger. Max enjoys playing fetch, hide & seek, and squeaky toys. He is not a fan of water.

Max’s people took him in from another family six years ago when they were about to surrender him to a shelter. Max has been a valued family member since then. Oover the last two years the family’s daughter has developed severe allergies to Max, so sadly, they are now seeking a new home for Max

Max is located in Folsom. His adoption fee is $200.

Please contact Leena Jaibhave 916-836-9468 or leena.jaibhave@gmail.com.
