Maximus's Story

12 month old Maximus is a high-energy boy seeking a GSD experienced home! Max has the most beautiful amber colored eyes, a rarer feature for GSDs. He is 80 lbs and current with all vaccinations, including heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Max lives with his foster family who has two children, ages 3 and 6 years, and two other dogs, ages 2 and 11 years. He is crate and potty trained. Max does well with children, but due to his energy and size he can be a bit much for smaller children. We would only recommend him to families with small children who have prior GSD experience and understand the committment to training Max needs. He can be stubborn at times but is food motivated, which helps with training. In multi dog households we recommend separate feeding time for Max. He has zero food aggression but will eat other dogs food? if allowed. He has made progress with not pulling on leaah but still needs work as he zig zags. Max does well on car rides has enjoyed going to pet stores. Max does well with visitors in the house but can be a bit jumpy at times. Max loves to play and he can play rough with other dogs, at times requiring correction. He will challenge paxk dynamics and may do best with just one dog friend. Max responds well to correction, but he is extremely dramatic and a big baby. We do not recommend him in a house with small dogs or cats. Max is a big baby of a sweet puppy that requires constant affection and affirmation that he is loved and accepted. He will need training and big yard to burn off energy but will make a great addition to the right family! If interested in adopting Maximus, apply at www.gsrescue1.org
