*PETFINDER INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AFTER READING HIS FULL ADOPTION LISTING. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Meet Marvelous Max-Nebraska, a 5 year old male Labradoodle, who is in an IDOG foster home in Fremont, Nebraska near Omaha, Nebraska.

*Please read ALL the information in Max's listing before applying to ensure you understand what he needs to be successful in his new home.

*Please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Max, please email us at rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for him. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of his adoption at https://www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt him before we will schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 5 years old (born March 2021)

*WEIGHT: 103 lbs. We think he could be at his ideal weight around 90-95 lbs. Max has lost a couple of pounds while in foster care but could use help losing just a little bit more. He has been more active with his foster family and it's already showing!

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required as we feel this would help set him up for success. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed.

*COAT TYPE: mixed coat with coarse shedding fur on his body and curly lower-shedding Poodle hair on his head/ears and feet. Those areas are more prone to knots and matting if not properly cared for. He will need regular brushing and grooming. His coat was matted upon intake and it was shaved down; you can see some ‘before’ photos in his listing. You should be prepared to have him groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: High happy energy! This guy always seems to be moving which means he might even be "under foot" at times...Max is a Velcro dog who wants to be a part of it all and have his humans in sight! He would ideally like 30-60 minutes of walking a day.

*DOGS: Great! Max would do well with other dogs in the home if they are playful and not aggressive. His foster family has two similar sized dogs as Max and he has done well. He uses his whole body to play, and will sometimes put his whole weight on other dogs.

*CATS: We think it would be best if Max goes to a home without cats. He will chase moving cats but ignores sleeping cats.

*KIDS: Yes. Older and/or dog savvy children would be best as Max is large and could knock littles over with his size. He lived with smaller kids in his previous home. Remember he is an active guy!

*CAR: Max does great in the car and loves to go for rides. He likes when the windows are down, and doesn't bark as he watches the world go by.

*CRATE: Yes! Max is crate trained and willingly goes inside for feeding and down time. He has been crated for up to 6 hours at a time with no issues and sits quietly.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He wants his humans to go outside with him when he goes to potty. He LOVES his people near even when he wants to potty.

*LEASH: Max would thrive learning more leash manners. He likes to pull hard but also really wants to be a good dog. He is a hard puller on walks and is learning to walk with a head halter which is helping him learn not to pull.

*AT THE VET: Max went taken to the vet's office on several occasions to get his microchip scanned & to get his weight. He was friendly and had no anxiety and was super friendly to everyone. He may jump on people once he loses some weight.

*AT THE GROOMER: While in foster care, Max was groomed by his foster mom & was a very good boy! His previous owner stated he was calm at the groomer.

Marvelous Max is a 5 year old Labradoodle who weighs 103 lbs. (his ideal weight is 90-95 lbs.); he was surrendered to IDOG by his owner who loved him very much but wasn’t able to provide him with the amount of exercise and activity he needed. Max is a happy guy who is very sweet, loving, energetic, and playful! He is a true Velcro dog and loves everyone and wants to be right near you even when he goes to potty outside. He learns quickly, picks up on tasks asked of him and redirection of behaviors. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He does well with basic commands. He has gotten along well with the pack of dogs in his foster home. When he first met them he would try to jump on their backs; one correction from the dogs and he stopped immediately.

Max would do best in a home where his people are very active. He loves to be next to his people and/or his foster dogs. He needs play time and exercise to burn his energy. Max would do great in a home with another big playful dog. He just wants to be a part of it all! He is like a bulldozer sometimes and doesn’t really know his size. He will thrive in a home that would be willing to work on them. He loves playing in the yard and exploring. He needs good outlets including lots of playtime, daily walks, and positive basic training.
Max is a true Velcro dog and will be extremely attached to a family who is willing to give him the love and attention. He will thrive with good boundaries and training to help him be the very best boy around! He is in constant motion and lays down and relaxes if his humans do.
Max loves a good counter surfing session as well as trash diving and a dog-savvy home would best suit his needs. He's a bit of a messy drinker like most Doods and loves to chew on toys. No squeaker is safe when this guy is around. He likes chewing on bones. Max doesn't have anxiety or issues at the vet and he is super friendly with all strangers.
Another dog in his new home is not necessary if Max's people are active and will give him the attention and engagement he needs. He really wants to play with other dogs. He loves human attention and wants to be close to you most of the time. If he could play with his humans outside all day, he would be the happiest guy around.
We think the ideal type of home for Max is:
-active family who will ensure his exercise needs are met
-yard and fence to help him burn some energy
-kids 12+
-if there is another dog in the home, big and playful dog would be ideal!
-family where someone is home frequently to engage with Max

Adjectives that describe Max:
*Friendly
*Curious
*Silly
*Loves Attention
*Energetic
*Playful
*Strong
*Funny
*Goofy
*Snuggly
*Affectionate

Activities that Max enjoys:
-Chew toys (he will likely destroy most toys so needs to be supervised)
-Squeaky toys
-Tug
-Fetch
-Walking
-Cuddling
-Playing with other dogs

A few ‘needs work’ items for Max:
Max would thrive in a home with good boundaries and basic training. He needs to be able to expel his energy through play, walks, and exercise.
-continued help walking on leash without pulling
Max is neutered, house trained, microchipped, current on core vaccines, dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative.

IDOG will hold a $150 refundable training deposit to encourage new family to go through training with him to help him be successful in his new home. Since 2006, IDOG has been working with rescue dogs and we have found that when an adopted dog goes through training with its new family it strengthens their bond and gives the adopted dog more confidence and security. The training deposit will be refunded upon proof of training classes.

ADOPTION FEE: $300 adoption fee + $150 refundable training deposit to be refunded upon proof of training classes.

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR MAX-NEBRASKA, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
