Max's Story

Our sweetest boy Max.. 11 months in foster waiting patiently for his forever family to find him. You see our boy Max needs a unicorn adopter and we could really use some help of shares to find that for him.

Max is 75 lbs of the biggest baby you'll ever meet! He's truly the most sensitive, soulful, delicate dog you'll ever meet. Life has not been kind to Max- spending the first few years of his life on a heavy chain surviving neglect, abuse, and heartworm disease- our guy was rescued and has truly never looked back at his life “before” He loves everyone he meets although he does carry some reminders as he flinches if you move too fast or talk too loudly, but as he does he wags his tail because all he knows is unconditional and pure love in his heart. Max also has a nerve injury in his back- he gets around just fine however his legs sometimes shake from this injury and he has to see the doggy chiropractor to help keep him balanced. This is $50 a visit and he goes 1-2x a month so an adopter would have to keep that up for his quality of life to stay great! Max's injury is from the heavy chain he used to wear and he will likely have these issues the rest of his life :( however yet again his resilience and determination to be the happiest boy he can be win and he runs into the doggy doctor for his adjustment with a huge pittie booty wiggle and a smile from ear to ear! He's a fan favorite there!

Max is one of the laziest dogs you'll ever meet. If you're an athlete looking for a running partner keep scrolling this is not the boy for you. However if you like to sleep in on the weekends, eat potato chips in your sweats, and binge watch Netflix.... This is the dog for you! He loooves to snooze the alarm, eat snacks, and take naps in between his walk from the couch to the bed during the day Max does not need to be crated he is a free roaming kind of dog and will gladly keep your spot on the sofa warm while you're at work all day. He is potty trained, knows basic training commands, and never gets in any trouble, ever! He is totally content hanging with his people and is more of a homebody than a go out on the town kind of dog however he is always down for a car ride (preferably to the ice cream shop ) and if you wanted to take him for a leisurely walk he will happily and slowly trot next to you without pulling on the leash at all!

Max is dog friendly and not reactive at all to other dogs when he sees them (in fact he gets excited and wiggly!) however he needs to live as the only pet in his home as he doesn't like to share his personal space, food, or spot in bed with other dogs.
Max needs a home without kids as it's his turn to finally be the kid in someone's life!
He would be a great companion for someone who's a little bit older and needing a dog who is low key and chill... He would be such an easy best bud for a first time dog owner.. he would bring so much joy and love to someone's heart Who's home is missing the friendship of a dog... he would love living with a young couple who doesn't have children and wants their dog to be their child! He would even make an excellent bachelor pad kinda dude and be more than happy to pick up chicks with a single guy ;) as long as you have a comfy couch, can take him to his doggy chiropractor, and show him half the love he will so willingly give to you.. he will thrive in your home!

In search of unicorn adopter with no kids and no pets and a comfy couch who wants an XL lazy house hippo to bed rot their weekends with

Please help us help max get a meet n greet before his 1 year anniversary in foster!

Click on more about us to fill out our adoption application

A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Thank you for considering A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue for your new fur baby! If you are interested in one of our animals, please fill out an application on our website at www.rejoycefulrescue.com for that animal. Please allow up to 72 business hours after submitting your application for a response. Our application process is as follows: 1. After your application has been received and reviewed, the foster parent of the animal will reach out to see if you have any specific questions regarding the animal. Prior to setting up a meet and greet, we will complete a vet check to ensure all animals currently in your home are up to date on vaccines, spayed or neutered and in good health. 2. Once your application has passed a vet check, we will set up a time for a meet and greet. The meet and greet is no-obligation and simply allow the foster to meet you and for you to meet them! We always host our meet and greets on a "neutral ground" if there are other animals and ensure proper introductions are done to allow safety for all. 3. Last but not least, if we both decide you might be the perfect furever family, we will reach out to set up a time for a home check. The purpose of the home check is simply to ensure the animal is heading to a safe environment. If necessary, our foster may point out items that can cause health issues or potential safety issues. 4. Once this process has been completed and approved, our finalization team will prepare an electronic contract for your signature confirming the adoption. Our adoption fee is $450 for dogs and $200 for cats. We ask, whenever possible, the hand off of your new fur family member is to be done at a local Petsmart to allow us to receive additional charity dollars to help our foundation. Your foster family will provide more information on this. We appreciate your patience during the process and pride ourselves on the best possible placement for our fosters. Please note, our applications are not "first come, first serve" and we will review each application equally to ensure the best home is selected for our animals. If you have any questions at any time, please email info@rejoycefulrescue.com.
