He likes getting chin and belly scratches, playing with toys, going on short walks, and cuddling under blankets. If there’s a blanket he’s under it. If there’s a lap, he’s sittin in it.

Max is one tough pup, he has IVDD as many of our special dachshunds do and had surgery when he was 4 and therapy a year later. Now he skips when he walks, but that may be because he’s such a happy dog. He goes outside to potty and sleeps in his own bed.

We think he has some recurring pain, especially when he’s extra tired, so we recommend keeping gabapentin on hand. We’d recommend he goes to a family where there aren’t any small children (visitors are okay) because Max doesn’t need a lot of aggressive playtime or little hands in his space. Families that are within a few hours of Pensacola may receive priority so we can offer Max continuity of medical care (and there’s a possibility that his adopters might want to continue his health insurance).
