Max's Story

Meet Max!

Max is a gorgeous black-and-white, 3-year-old Cocker Spaniel with a sweet, gentle heart. He can be a little shy and cautious when meeting new people, but once he feels safe, his affectionate personality shines through. He forms close bonds with his people and loves being near them.

Like many sensitive dogs, Max may feel a little anxious in unfamiliar situations, such as visits to the veterinarian or groomer. However, he accepts the necessary handling, especially when it's done patiently and gently. Once he becomes familiar with new people and places, Max relaxes into a confident, happy companion.

*** Update:
As we have gotten to know Max better during his first few days with us, we have learned that he forms a strong attachment to his person and can become possessive while he is sitting beside them when another dog approaches. Because of this, we recommend that Max be adopted to a home where he can be the only dog and receive all the love and attention from his family.

This handsome boy has a fun, goofy side, too! He loves going for walks and taking his time to sniff every interesting scent along the way. He enjoys playing with soft toys, especially in the mornings, and is always happy to soak up attention from his favorite people. During mealtime, Max prefers to eat in his own space. Because he can be timid and somewhat sensitive, he would likely be happiest in a home without young children.

Max has excellent house manners and is fully potty trained. He lets you know when he needs to go outside by sitting at the door—he'll even ring a bell! He doesn't chew, bark excessively, or get on the furniture unless invited. He can be trusted to stay home alone without any problems and will greet you enthusiastically when you return, often carrying a sock or one of his favorite soft toys as a special welcome-home gift. Max also rides beautifully in the car, quietly settling in for the trip.

Max is a healthy boy who is up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and will be ready for adoption as soon as he has recovered from his neuter procedure. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with unwavering devotion, Max just might be your perfect match.

If you would like to meet Max, please complete our adoption/foster application (theyre the same) and put his name at the top. Our application and detailed info about our process can be found on our website: https://dfwcockerrescue.org/adoption-process/

If you are already an approved adopter or foster, please contact us at dfwcsr.adoptions@gmail.com.
