Max's Story
Max
Terrier mix
3 years old
16 lbs
Adoption fee $550

Neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, heart worm negative and on prevention

Adoption applications should be filled out to expedite the process:
https://www.lilpaws.org/index.php/adopt/adoption-application

Max is a 3 year old, 16 pound, male terrier mix.

Max would do best with children 9 and up. He absolutely adores children of all ages, however it’s best they are of an age they can help provide structure. Max had a very independent upbringing, and through training is learning to follow human direction, so structure and routine are important. He likes the company of other dogs and to play. He would do best with a slightly older, larger female dog. He can be wary of strangers initially, so giving him time to warm up and acclimate before overwhelming him with cuddles is necessary. Once he’s comfortable he would love to snuggle on the couch. He knows some general commands like Sit, Down, Let’s Go for loose leash walking, Come, Place (hang out on an object and relax), Look for eye contact at doors. He has a very fun personality when he’s comfortable, and he likes to play with toys and train for treats. He comes with 3 in home private lessons, through OpenGates training.

Max will thrive with an experienced rescue adopter who can provide a consistent, stable routine and has previous experience handling dogs requiring confident management. The reward for this dedication is immeasurable: an adopter who will love seeing Max reach his full potential as a wonderful companion, and the joy it can be to be his confident leader.

He loves to play fetch and sometimes brings the ball or toy back and drops it. Max was a backyard dog that got out and was picked up. He has made great strides with house-training and manners. He uses a doggie door. He also likes to go for rides in the car. Max sleeps all night in a crate in his foster’s bedroom. Max has been tested with a cat and he barked at it but did not chase.

Adoption Information
Please note: Because of their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5.

We do not have a physical facility — all of our dogs live in loving foster homes.
Lil’ Paws is a small, all-volunteer organization. To best use our limited time and resources, we are only able to correspond with individuals who have submitted an adoption application.

If you live in the immediate Austin area and are interested in adopting from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws, please visit www.lilpaws.org This is the first step in our process. Unfortunately, we are unable to adopt outside the Austin area.

Our local adoption requirement is due to the thoroughness of our process, which includes home visits and a trial adoption period to ensure the dog has adjusted well. With our small team of volunteers, it is not possible to conduct these steps outside our area. Even if you are willing to travel, we must keep our efforts local to maintain the integrity of our process.

If you would like to visit with our dogs and their fosters, Meet and Greet Events are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Pet Supplies Plus in Round Rock from noon to 2 p.m.
Pet Supplies Plus
17420 Ranch to Market Rd 620 #150
Round Rock, TX 78681

Our mission is to place our dogs in safe, stable, and loving homes within the Austin area. Thank you for understanding and for supporting rescue!
________________________________________
Supporting Lil’ Paws

Lil’ Paws Maltese Rescue and Other Petite Paws relies on donations to provide the medical care our dogs need before adoption. Every pup receives essential vetting such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and dental care — and many require additional or even major medical treatments.
Your donations make this possible.
