Max's Story
Note: Dogs are pack animals and do not do well away from other members of their pack. The adopter is the alpha member of the pack, and the dog or puppy needs as much one-on-one contact with the alpha as possible. For this reason, all Route 66 Rescue Inc. dogs are adopted to inside homes only. They must be on leash, or inside a secure fence when outside, and not left outside alone when no one is home. Invisible fencing does not qualify as protection since other animals and strangers have access to the dog. The dogs must be returned to Route 66 Rescue, Inc. if ever given up by the adopter. Thank you for understanding we want only the best for the dogs you give a forever home.

Max came to us with a broken leg that appeared to be bad enough for amputation. We opted to give him some time, and now he hardly favors that leg at all. He is full of fun and energy. He is a little shy of new people, but warms up when given time.

Max loves romping around with Sweetie, his black lab buddy. Max will toss his toy and chase it when he plays alone; with Sweetie the favorite game is tug-o-war.

Branches, limbs, sticks, and tree stumps are especially interesting to Max. He is healthy, happy, and eager to please his people.

Max relaxes in his kennel when bedtime comes around. He also goes in his kennel when we need to be away from home for a while. We use the kennel for our away time because Max still loves finding my socks and chewing ... using the kennel keeps Max out of trouble and my socks intact!

Max's adoption fee is $200. Please email route66rescue@yahoo.com for an adoption application.
