Max's Story

Hi my name is Max and I am a 2 year old lab and dalmatian mix. (Yes this is accurate my parents are known).
I was surrendered by my dad who could no longer care for me because he had a heart condition that made it so he couldn't even take me out for potty walks. It was a very sad situation, and he has come to visit me a couple times, but I am not doing well in the shelter atmosphere without him. I had lived with him since I was a puppy and was very loved but didn't get out much, so all these new experiences are a lot for me.
I am housebroken, crate trained (but don't use anymore, I had free range of the house), and I do great when going to groomer and had previously been around kids ages 9 and up, saw other dogs occasionally and did well with both per my previous owner.
I am shy here and shut down so someone who could give me some time to adjust would be good but he seems to be a dog that once he trusts you would be extremely playful and good in a home environment.

Montgomery County SPCA's Adoption Policy
At the Montgomery County SPCA, we are dedicated to finding responsible, forever homes for all the pets in our care. To that end, we have created a thorough adoption process which helps us achieve this goal. This process includes a check of veterinary history records on any pets you currently have, and a home visit. If you rent your home, we require written proof (letter or lease) from your landlord that you are allowed to have pets. We undertake this kind of thorough review to ensure that animals who have already been discarded at least once will never have to experience this again.
