Maverick's Story

Maverick is ready to bust out of boarding and get back to what really matters — being with his people.

This handsome boy is a classic German Shepherd through and through — smart, loyal, observant, and deeply connected to his humans. He’s the kind of dog who wants a job, wants structure, and most of all… wants his person.

We’re still learning about Maverick socially. He gives us strong “dominant male” vibes, so we feel he would likely thrive as an only dog where he can fully settle in and shine. We initially thought he might pair well with a female, but we’ve noticed he seems a bit timid around the ladies — especially Dancer and Amber.

Interestingly, his first meeting with Amber had him pretty excited and interested. The next time? Not so much. And when he briefly met Dancer, he was definitely on the timid side. That tells us he may just need time, decompression, and confidence-building outside of the boarding environment.

Boarding simply isn’t where a dog like Maverick thrives. Shepherds are thinkers. They bond deeply. They need consistency, guidance, and connection. It’s hard to truly know a dog’s full personality when they’re in a kennel setting.

What we do know:
• He’s smart
• He’s affectionate
• He’s very much a “typical shepherd”
• He wants his person
• He needs a cat-free home

What we need:
A foster or adopter willing to give him that chance — a calm, structured home where he can decompress and show us who he really is.

If you’ve been looking for a loyal shadow, a best friend, a dog who will bond deeply and be all in with you… Maverick may just be your guy.

Let’s get this boy out of boarding and into a home where he can truly thrive.
