Mary- in Maine's Story

Meet Mary – The Little Terrier Who Learned to Smile!

Some stories begin with heartbreak... but the best ones don’t end there.

Mary is a 27-pound terrier mix with a fluffy white coat sprinkled with adorable brown spots. At one point, life wasn’t very kind to her. She was left behind when her family moved away, abandoned alongside several other dogs. Unsure of people and frightened by human touch, Mary had every reason to believe the world wasn’t a safe place.

But thanks to patience, love, and time, Mary’s story has taken a beautiful turn.

Today, this sweet girl can’t wait for her foster mom to come home. She greets her with a full-body wiggle, an excited tail, and the sweetest smile you’ve ever seen. Yes—a real smile! Watching her light up when she sees someone she loves is enough to melt anyone’s heart.

As a true terrier, Mary hasn’t forgotten her instincts. She loves to dig, patrol her yard, and proudly takes her job as neighborhood critter control very seriously—she has even successfully caught an opossum! When she’s outside, she’s happiest zooming around a securely fenced yard, exploring every inch with her curious nose. While she enjoys her adventures, she also walks beautifully on a leash and is well-mannered in public around people of all ages.

Mary has completed her heartworm treatment and is healthy, happy, kennel trained, and fully housebroken. She has blossomed into a confident, affectionate companion who simply needed someone to believe in her.

Mary isn’t looking for perfection—just a family that will love her as deeply as she’ll love them in return. If you’re searching for a loyal best friend with a playful spirit, a heart full of gratitude, and a smile that will brighten even the toughest day, Mary is waiting to meet you.

Could your home be the happy ending this resilient little terrier has been waiting for?

If you have interest in meeting this dog or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application here: http://www.luckypuprescue.org/adoption-application.

Please note: we do not have a physical facility where our dogs are housed; they are cared for in our wonderful foster network throughout New England. It is our expectation that, once approved, a potential family will meet the dog(s) in the foster setting where they are feeling safe and loved.

Thank you for considering rescue!
