Martin's Story

Martin is a 7-month-old German Shepherd on the peak of their "teenage" adolescent phase LOL!
Martin was rescued from a breeder’s backyard at about 12 weeks old, along with five siblings. They have been abandoned there day and night with little food and water and zero human interaction.
German shepherds are known for their boundless energy, increased independence, and potential, boundary-testing behavior, but they are also extremely trainable and required consistent training, socialization, and both mental and physical stimulation to manage their high energy and sometimes destructive and protective levels.
Martin was very nice and lovable when he was adopted at 4 ½ months old, he was sweet and extremely friendly, unfortunately the family gave him back 3 weeks later because they weren’t prepared to survive a puppy life.
For a few weeks, he was placed in a foster home, where he played all day and decompressed from his sad experience, unfortunately dogs are unable to comprehend rejection and it’s always very a very painful experience for them.
He was overjoyed when another family attempted to give him a home forever, but the happiness lasted until he had an incident with them.

All of Martin’s siblings have found great families and are living wonderful lives, but Martin hasn’t had the same luck. Because of his rough start, he has some trust issues, making him careful when he meets new people and some dogs. However, he is very sweet and obedient with all of us rescuers.
The best home for this 7-month puppy would be the one where he is the only dog, he is highly intelligent, and he loves to play fetch and go for long walks.
He knows commands like sit and stay; he doesn’t love to be crated but he sleeps after he fusses a bit.
Martin can be quite stubborn, but he is deeply loyal, affectionate, and highly intelligent.
German Shepherd are family dogs and guardians and become great service animals, but they require consistent and firm training, and early socialization to manage their protective instincts.
If you have EXPERIENCE with German shepherds looking to adopt a great puppy, Martin is the perfect puppy for YOU, as his smarts and loyalty make him the best companion ever.

Please give Martin the furever home he truly deserves!!!
With puppy love,
Martin

If you want additional information don’t hesitate to call us, or request an application to luckypaws.org@gmail.com
