Then check out this opportunity to FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT with Canine Haven Rescue! We are a foster-based rescue organization in the GTA. We can only help bring these dogs out of the shelter and to Canada if we have a foster (or foster to adopt) home for them. Fostering is free, all supplies are provided, and you get the opportunity to help a deserving dog! If you foster to adopt, you will have the option to adopt after approximately 2 weeks. Mario came to us in June 2025 when he was surrendered as a young puppy by someone who had found him. Around the same time, a similarly aged female pup named Zelly was rescued, and the two have grown up side by side ever since. Mario is a lovely, confident, well-behaved boy with plenty of puppy energy. He has already learned to sit and wait patiently for treats, showing how eager he is to please. Currently, Mario and Zelly are fostered in a home with a big garden, where they live outside with a spacious shelter. With his happy and playful personality, Mario would make a wonderful family dog. He could thrive as the only dog in a household or live happily with other pets. As he is still young, he will need some continued training, and we hope his future family will enjoy helping him with lessons and guidance. Mario has all the love in the world to give, and now it’s time for him to find a home of his own — a place where he can share his joy, grow into the amazing companion he is destined to be, and finally have people to love. Canine Haven Rescue's Adoption Policy

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 48 hours, please remember we are a 100% volunteer based organization, and many of us have full time jobs outside of rescue. We appreciate your patience. Our priority is to ensure the fit is right for both you and the dog, we will reach out to your personal and veterinarian references (if applicable), and your landlord (if applicable). A virtual video or pictures of your place are required at the time of application. You will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog. If after the meet and greet, you would like to proceed with adoption, we will review your application internally and with the foster and make a final decision.
