Marie Curie's Story

Marie Curie is a beautiful, lanky black colored lab mix that weighs approximately 38lbs. She is looking for a very patient adopter as she is very timid and shy around people. We are not sure if she suffered some abuse and/or neglect. She's gaining more courage and trust in humans and her surroundings daily but this is still a work in progress! For example, when I first got her, she would dart away from me when I approach her to pet her. She acts like she wants to be loved but is nervous to surrender. So she keeps her guard up. She is starting to let me approach her without running to give her head rubs!! It’s not 100% perfect but definitely getting better! When I catch her and put her on the couch with me, she is stiff at first and then will loosen up. Marie is clean and in the crate and working hard on potty training. She is also learning how to be a dog! She is playing with her foster siblings and is very submissive with other dogs and just a genuinely sweet soul. Thus far, she just ignores the resident cat. Marie would do best in a fenced yard as she still needs to work on leash training and more socialization. She can be timid to come back in the house when I am standing at the door so I have to walk away for her to come in. She would also benefit from basic training. Lastly, given her timid nature, Marie would do best with another confident dog in the home. She does better when she can follow the lead of another dog and they can teach her the ropes.

Are you willing to teach Marie what it means to be loved? If so, submit an application. She deserves a loving forever home! In time, I know she will be the best version of herself!

Stray Animal Adoption Program's Adoption Policy
The Adoption Process SAAP asks for a minimum donation at the time of the adoption. This request is always $300 or less (usually $150 – $250). We are required to collect sales tax on adoptions in the state of Kentucky. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept credit/debit cards. Cash or check is readily accepted. All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines, dewormed, flea and tick medication applied, and ready to go home with you when you meet them. We ask that you submit an adoption application. We will review and approve/deny your application in a timely manner. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a “Meet and Greet” appointment. Often times this is scheduled at the start of one of our regular adoption events. Frequently, we can make arrangements to meet at times/dates other than our usual events. At the “Meet and Greet” you will have time to make the final decision as to whether you wish to adopt the pet. If indeed you do make the decision to adopt the pet, there is a basic pet adoption contract to complete. The SAAP personnel that is assisting with your pet adoption will be happy to review the contract with you. SAAP does promote life long adoptions. In the unforeseen instance that you must surrender the pet, you must return the pet to SAAP. It is unfortunate, but we cannot return your adoption donation. Copyright 2014-2021 Kreyling Creative LL
