Maribel Poodle & Bichon Frise Mix Houston, TX

Maribel is a beautiful, female, white miniature Poodle. She is approximately 6 years old and weighs 13 pounds. She is very friendly and affectionate and loves to play. She bonds quickly and intensely with her human(s). The strength of her bond is so great that she experiences significant separation anxiety when left alone. A previous owner took great pains to write up her experiences with Maribel that she hopes will be helpful to a potential adopter. Following is a summary of her comments:

"She is very friendly and loves meeting all people and gets along with other animals. Her attitude seems to be "I love everybody and I hope they love me". She has been around children on occasion and seemed to enjoy letting them touch her and simply moved away when she'd had enough. She is very popular at the memory care residence where my mother lives. She quickly learned to be gentle with the residents and loved all the petting and attention. She is easy to groom. I have only fed her dog food, never people food. She does not beg at the table. She is very loving and wants to be with me. She sleeps under my bed, on her bed or near me. She loves riding in the car. She loves walks, does not amble along, and is very interested in all outdoor scents. She is a good watch dog. She barks when she sees people walking their dogs outside, but she does not keep it up. She just lets me know someone is outside "her" house. She can jump very high. This is amazing to see and I think she would make a wonderful dog to train for agility courses or frisbee catching; it would be good for her mind and body. Because of her jumping ability, if she is not exercised outside on a leash, she needs to be in a home with a secure fence and should be supervised if she goes out in the fenced yard to play or potty. She should not be in a home with a chain link fence. Her ideal new home would be one where at least one family member is home most of the day and/or works from home. Maribel gets attached to her human and does not like to be left alone. She should not be crated or confined to a bathroom since she finds this very stressful. Maribel does fine in a kennel when she can see other dogs are present."

In summary, Maribel is a gentle and loving dog who suffers from significant separation anxiety. Given what we know about her and the above comments, we think Maribel will do best in a home where there is an owner at home most or much of the time and at least one family dog already in residence to keep her company. All the dogs are healthy, spayed/neutered, current on shots, parasite / heart worm disease tested (and treated if positive). All dogs are microchipped, groomed and trained to use a doggie door.
