Maria's Story

Maria is a wonderful little Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as her story. She came into rescue heavily pregnant and proved what an amazing mama she is by giving birth to six healthy puppies—and then, without hesitation, lovingly taking in an additional surrendered pup as one of her own. Her gentle, nurturing nature truly shines.

Now that her mama duties are done, Maria is ready to be someone’s cherished companion. She is a fun-loving, affectionate girl who loves to cuddle—whether it’s snuggling in bed, curling up on the couch to watch TV, or soaking up attention from her people. She also enjoys spending time outside and loves her walks, walking nicely on a leash.

Maria is potty trained and happily uses a dog door, though she can be a little stubborn about heading out in cold or bad weather (understandably!). In those moments, she will reliably use a potty pad. She’s an easygoing, adaptable pup who just wants to be comfortable and close to her people.

Once settled in, Maria can be a bit protective of her humans, but she handles visitors well and is perfectly content relaxing in another room when company is over—especially if treats are involved (bribes are very effective!). She gets along well with other dogs and has shown no issues with the cat she met at the vet.
Maria is truly an easy-keeping, loving little dog who will make a fantastic addition to almost any family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and an even bigger cuddle game, Maria may be your perfect match.

If you think Maria may be the one for you, please go to our website at www.wagstorichesanimalrescue.org and fill out an application to adopt. Please be sure to include a vet reference as regular vet care is important to us for the health of all our adopted dogs. With approval and a $295 adoption donation, she will be ready to accompany you on all of life’s many adventures! Maria is spayed, microchipped, fecal tested clean of internal parasites and up to date on all her vaccinations.
