Margo's Story

Hi, I'm Margo!

As a young, happy go lucky puppy, I'm eager to explore the world and find a home to call my own. I came to Outrun this winter with my roommate Spright, and I've already learned so much! I was very sick when I first arrived, I was told I'm a parvo-virus survivor! Parvo is a very contagious illness that left me lethargic with a very upset stomach. After a period of intensive special treatment, I'm all clear and back to my usual puppy antics. I've upgraded my old straw bedding to a nice cozy blanket, and am loving all the toys to play with. So far my favourites are my stuffed moose, and anything that squeaks, but there's yet to be a toy I say no to!

I get along great with my puppy friends, and came from a group of several other puppies that I was very social and playful with. Sometimes my friends would argue over who got to eat the snacks first, but I don't mind waiting my turn. There have been a lot of new people to meet at Outrun, they all look like friends to me! As I'm just a young puppy, I still have a lot to learn about life, but if you're ready to start that adventure with me I'll be quick to learn.

My ideal home looks like:

Other dogs: Yes, I'd be happy with a puppy-savvy dog, or as a solo star of the show

Cats: I haven't met any cats before, but with proper introductions and training I would likely get along just fine

Kids: Yes, though just like children, I'm still learning how things work and will need guidance on how to play like the tiny humans do.

Margo would benefit from having someone home more regularly to help with potty-breaks while she finishes her house-training. She has been making progress with crate training too. Margo has been introduced to a number of experience to help build confidence and socialization, including: nail trims, baths, walking on different textured floors (concrete, tile, carpet, plastic, snow, cloth, and plastic bags), vacuums, mops, running washing and drying machines, handling by people of all shapes and sizes, and audio recordings of common fears (fireworks, sirens, busy traffic, barking dogs). She has responded positively to all of these, and displayed lots of curiosity and confidence! She will be ready to start on her puppy basics training next.

Margo came to Outrun as a stray from a local farm. While her exact history is unknown, she appears to look like the other australian shepherd puppies and is still young enough to have a foundation of positive experiences now that she is in rescue.
